This is a stunning antique Art Nouveau amethyst gold pendant necklace by the jeweller Henry Mathews. Mathews worked from offices in Victoria Street, Birmingham supplying stores such as Liberty’s with his work.
 
It has a centre whiplash foliate motive with a beautiful amethyst in a colett setting, with ornate scroll designs typical of the Art Nouveaux period, which lasted from 1890 to 1910. 
There is a further lavalier drop with a t3mm round amethyst. The amethyst are a beautiful mid purple colour and are in good condition. The pendant comes with the fine gold cable chain with which it was purchased.
