Antique Edwardian amethyst and seed pearl lavalier drop necklace 18 carat gold

This is a stunning Edwardian amethyst and seed pearl 18 carat gold necklace. It has five faceted amethyst gemstones and 31 natural seed pearls in a lavalier and fringe drop setting The larger oval amethyst measures 13x11mm in size and the smaller is 6mm in diameter, set on the integral gold and pearl chain.
 
Suspended from this are three further amethyst that measure 3mm in diameter on pearl chains. The amethyst are a beautiful purple colour and are in good condition free from chips and cracks. There are 31 original seed pearls that measure .5mm in size and are threaded onto gold wire.
 
The necklace measures 45cm in length, with the centre section dropping 42mm and weighs 3.6 grams. The necklace closes with a secure ring bolt spring ring. It is not marked but has been tested and confirmed as 18 carat gold.
 
Amethyst is the birthstone for February and was very popular in Edwardian and Victorian jewellery, and this necklace has survived very well, being in very good vintage condition.
