Era: Georgian circa 1780-1820
Metal: 9 carat gold
Gemstone: pearls
Weight: 3.4 grams
Size: 23x15mm
A very pretty and rare Georgian seed pearl lace pin brooch set in 9 carat yellow gold. This gorgeous piece has 18 larger seed pearls, and 38 of the tiniest seed pearls I have ever seen! On careful examination with a x 10 eye glass there are several of these tiniest pearls missing, but this is not noticeable by eye.
The top oval section measures 23mm x 15mm and the brooch weighs 3.4 grams. There are no marks but the gold has been tested as 9 carat. The pearls look to be original and are well matched with a good lustre.
The brooch has a crimped colett edge known as a 'pie crust' setting and dates the piece to 1780-1820. The fastening is an older type tube hinge and C clasp, and the pin is metal for strength when wearing.
In good condition commensurate with its age, this is a charming piece. This will be sent by special or international tracked, insured and signed for service. We gift wrap and post in our vintage style boxes with full description and care card.
