Victorian antique five stone claw set old cut diamond ring, set in 18 carat gold. This gorgeous ring is a classic design of that time and has the rare Chester Assay office hallmark.
The head of the ring holds five old cut diamonds in claw settings. The central diamond measures approximately 15 points or 3mm, with two adjacent diamonds at 10 points or 2.5mm each and two more at 5 points or 2mm each. This makes the total diamond weight approximately 45 points or 0.45 measured in setting.
The Diamonds are well matched with excellent lively character having been graded VS for clarity and F for colour by our gemmologist.
The ring is a beautiful high carat buttery yellow gold and is fully hallmarked for Chester assay office. It has the marks crown 18, date letter L, along with the design number 268. The hallmark is a little rubbed although the assay office and letter are clear.
It weighs 2.3 grams, the head of the ring spreads over 16mm by 7mm and sits 4mm above the finger when worn.
