What a pretty silver and 9 carat gold crescent moon set with natural Ruby and Old cut Diamonds! Often known as honeymoon jewellery, it dates from the mid-late Victorian era, and signified new beginnings in a relationship and marriage, alongside divine female power.
Skilfully converted from a brooch by our goldsmith it is 24.5mm in diameter and dropping 31.5mm when worn. It weighs 3 grams and dates to Circa 1860-80.
The gemstones are all held in Silver crimped collet settings and it is backed with a 9 carat Gold plate. The largest Ruby measures 4x3mm and they graduate down in size to 1.5x1mm. There are 2 3mm diameter diamonds and they graduate down to 2 1mm rose cut diamonds at the ends.
The overall condition is very good for its age with only minor wear as expected and our goldsmith has added a good size ring ready to hang from a chain. The listing is just for the pendant and the gold chain in the photograph is not included.
